Thank you to everyone who came over to say hi at last night’s Digital Drinks event in Salisbury. There was a great deal of interest in First Coding’s courses and app design workshops and it was a lot of fun showing off projects from past pupils.
After learning that one of our young pupils recently bought some chickens for her garden, we set about designing a web page to advertise the eggs she was going to sell. The nice thing about Scratch 3 is that you can embed your projects really easily and this is exactly what we did here.
By designing an interactive Scratch project to introduce everyone to her new pets, Elsie was able to embed it into her website. You can see the finished result here.

I was fortunate enough to talk with the people at #Microbit whilst attending #Bett2019 this weekend. They were really surprised at some of the projects that have come out of First Coding’s advanced courses, so well done to all! I came away with stickers for everyone. This year I really want to push the Microbit to its limit to see what creative projects we can make. #Coding #BettShow2019 #STEM
First Coding will be running its popular Young Coders’ course once again! Ideal for children aged between 7 and 10 years with an interest in computers and games, pupils will learn how to create colourful and amusing animations and build fun interactive programs, all whilst learning important concepts and gaining confidence in computer programming via the popular game of Minecraft and through the visual language of Scratch.
The cost of the course is £75 and starts on Saturday 2nd February between 2pm-3pm, running for four weeks.
