It’s Global Game Jam time once again. This is an event that happens right across the globe as teams and individuals make a game over a single weekend based on a theme. The theme for this year was MASK and after quite a bit of brainstorming, I hit on an Aztec mask maze idea. Here is a video of the development process. You can also play the game here: https://globalgamejam.org/games/2026/aztec-mask-2

In order to participate in the Global Game jam, game designers have to sign up to a venue. I was originally going to go to Cardiff to join their group as I have previously participated in Global Game Jam events with them but the trains were working against me this weekend, so I joined a virtual group instead. I like how ability, skill level and location aren’t barriers in this game design challenge. It’s the game design community coming together to create some awesome games. Also, my entries past and present have been made using Scratch. I want to show, through participation of these events that it doesn’t matter what platform you create with, it’s all about supporting the community. If you enjoy working with Scratch, keep going. It can take you in many interesting directions, even if you’re an older student… or even an older teacher like me!

Here is a video of a previous game jam when I did manage to get over to Cardiff.
